How the NIHR supports NHS, public health and social care research
Health and Social Care: Books
As public services are being demolished here in the UK, and the NHS is taking the brunt of cuts due to austerity measures, it is important that our Health and Social Care list reflects the ramifications of these cuts and demonstrates there is an alternative not only in the UK but globally. We have a growing list in public health and health and social care, with a range of textbooks, monographs and policy-focused books that all aim to push forward the boundaries of teaching, theory, policy and practice. We are actively seeking to publish work that covers areas like global health, health inequalities and research into policy and practice. If you are interested in writing for us, please see the Commissioning Editor information below. I have had several roles in the commissioning team on the majority of the core Policy Press subject areas over the years. I enjoy meeting existing and potential authors and talking through their research.

The catalogue. Further information about loan periods and borrowing is available from our webpages. You will often use Discover to find books you want, but sometimes you may wish to simply browse the shelves. If a book you want is out on loan or at another library, reserve it through Discover. Check when your books are due back and renew them if you still need them through the 'My Account' section of the Library Catalogue. Don't forget there is a seperate Reference section where you can find dictionaries, directories and annual publications. E-books are especially useful if you only want to read a short section of the book.
