Contend Earnestly For The Faith

The twenty-first and last of the Epistles, and the penultimate book in the Bible, is Jude. It was written in Jerusalem in approximately 69 AD by the author after whom it is named. Although not one of the 12 disciples of Jesus, Jude did know him, and he is even said by some to have been Jesus' brother; though this relationship has been disputed. Because Jude witnessed Jesus' resurrection, he is a firm believer in Christ, and wants to share the good news of salvation. However, this letter, like so many more of the Epistles, is concerned mostly with false teachers who are spreading errant doctrines amongst the Christian community.

According to , Jude was the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James. According to , Jude said he was writing to them that are sanctified by God the Father and preserved in Jesus Christ. According , Jude said it was needful for him to write and exhort them that they should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. According to , There are certain ungodly men who have turned the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. According to , The Lord having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. According to , The angels which kept not their first estate, God hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. According to , Sodom and Gomorrah gave themselves over to fornication and went after strange flesh and was made an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
