At some point in , for reasons mostly unknown, Hanna Barbera had a falling out with Western Publishing, and all existing Hanna Barbera properties left Western Publishing. The comics license ended up Charlton Comics, while the children's book license ended up with Ottenheimer Publishers which sometimes published under the name Modern Promotions or sub-licensed to a company called Modern Promotions. The Wonder Books were published under this license. Some of these characters had Gold Key comics and some had Charlton comics. After Rand McNally, Ottenheimer Publishers and Marvel comics gave up on Hanna Barbera, other publishers would briefly hold the license and put out a few things.

The Flintstones was a highly successful TV show and comic book and in , Fred and Wilma birthed a daughter and named her Pebbles. Pebbles soon became the star of the show and the comic book and this one-shot reprints her first comic book appearance. Strangely, despite the popularity of Pebbles, there was never a second issue, although there was another one-shot called Bamm-Bamm and Pebbles Flintstones in , and of course a later series both on TV and in comic books of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm after they became teenagers. Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm originated in separate episodes of the original primetime Flintstones series. The Rubble's soon adopted him shortly thereafter.
